Exploding scuba tanks in Australia0

Recently, an aluminum scuba tank that was being stored in a garden shed exploded, splitting the tank entirely in half and damaging the walls of the shed. Not good. Fortunately no one was injured but it has highlighted the need for these old tanks to either be professionally tested and rated by a qualified person, or disposed of.

New World Free Dive Record Set1

Martin Stepanek has gone where no man has gone before — more than 100 meters below the sea without an air tank.”I’m officially the deepest man in the world,” Stepanek said. “That’s the record. It’s like 35 stories.”

Stepanek dived 106 meters in 3 minutes and 45 seconds, setting a new world record at a competition off the Cayman Islands over the weekend.

Corals don’t only occur in warm, sun-drenched, tropical seas; some species are found at depths of three miles or more in cold, dark waters throughout the world’s oceans. Some cold-water coral reefs are home to more than 1,300 species of animals, a diversity rivaling some better known tropical coral reefs.
