Modular cabins for the world’s largest drilling rigs

Aker Yards Piikkio has entered into contract with Leirvik Module Technology from Norway for the delivery of modular cabins for living quarters of drilling platforms.

Leirvik Module Technology AS is one of the leading suppliers of living quarters for offshore industry. They have decided to use modular cabins of Aker Yards Piikkio in the construction of living quarters for two Aker H6-e drilling rigs. These sixth generation semi-submersible drilling rigs will be constructed by Aker Kvaerner Stord in Norway, and they will be the world’s largest drilling rigs.

The contract includes in all the delivery of 280 cabin units for two living quarters, as well as options for cabin deliveries for another two similar drilling rigs. The modular cabin production will start in the cabin factory in December 2006, and the cabins will be delivered to the customer in Norway during the years 2007 and 2008.
