Our friends from The Hellenic Speleological Society, Department of West Crete, Greece inform us that they organize a Speleological Symposium on 30 September to 1 October 2006 in Crete, Greece.

The Organizing Committee of the 3^rd Pan-Cretan Speleological Symposium are pleased to announce the exact dates of the Symposium which will be held on Saturday 30^th September and Sunday 1^st October 2006 in Rethymno Crete.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The topics of the announcements during the Symposium are as follows:

• Original scientific announcements concerning the caves and other karst forms of Crete in the sectors of Geology, Palaeontology, Biology, Archaeology, History, Folklore, Philology, Environmental Issues, History of Speleology and Management and Protection.
• Exploration and descriptions of the caves of Crete

Oral presentations, posters, original constructed either in Greek or in English are welcome. The duration of each oral announcement will be 10 minutes. A discussion might follow the announcement for another 5 minutes.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Participants with presentations (oral or posters) are invited to submit an abstract (maximum 150 words) in printed or electronic form, sending it by post or by e-mail to the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee by the latest 31^st May 2006. The abstracts will be distributed to the participants on the day of the Symposium. You are requested to try to respect this deadline.

REGISTRATION

The participants in the works of the Symposium (with or without presentation) are kindly asked to fill in and send the registration/participation form to the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee of the Symposium.

The cost of the registration/participation is 50 €. For those who pay the fee by 31^st_May, the cost is 30 €. The fee includes registration, printed material of the Symposium, coffee, light meals and the minutes. You can pay the fee by a deposit on the following joint account, IBAN: GR91 0431 1300 0037 4010 3868 084 (BIC : ABGRGRAA). A photocopy of the deposit ticket must be sent to the Secretariat of the Symposium.
