NSMG announces new safety recommendations for cylinders made from 5283 aluminium alloy1

Société Métallurgique de Gerzat (SMG), a subsidiary of the Luxfer Gas Cylinders division of Luxfer Group

Following investigations into reported ruptures of high-pressure cylinders made from aluminium alloy 5283 (AA5283), Société Metallurgique de Gerzat SAS (SMG) has determined that some AA5283 cylinders may undergo metallurgical changes that require special precautions. As a result, SMG announces the following safety recommendations for use of SMG high-pressure cylinders manufactured from AA5283:
